It’s Friday, and you know what that means! …Well, probably not because this is the first time I’ve done this. But in the spirit of “Flashback Friday” (or #FBF, as the kids call it), I’m using this day as an excuse to publish photos I took earlier this year. On Friday, April 10, 2015, Testament’s “Dark Roots of Thrash II” tour stopped at Pop’s in Sauget, IL, with supporting acts Exodus and Corpus Christi, TX newcomers Shattered Sun. Testament’s first “Dark Roots of Thrash” tour featuring Overkill, Flotsam and Jetsam, and 4Arm took place in early 2013 and was in promotion of Testament’s 2012 album Dark Roots of Earth, but this second tour saw the thrash legends playing only tracks from their first three albums: their 1987 debut The Legacy, 1988’s The New Order, and 1989’s Practice What You Preach.
At the show, I had the opportunity to interview Shattered Sun vocalist Marcos Leal for MetalInsider.net. I also photographed all three bands, but due to computer issues that I was having at the time, I was unable to edit them in a timely manner for Metal Insider to publish them. The guys over at the site were very understanding, however, and I also had the opportunity to photograph another show for them one week later. But since we now have some time to work on things here at Damnation Magazine, I have decided to publish this first gallery shot with my new Nikon Digital SLR camera (coincidentally, sold to me by Damnation’s own Nick Licata and Creve Coeur Camera). Please enjoy the gallery, and have a great weekend!
