Vlog: Mighty Con St. Louis 2016

Matt Albers, Nick Licata, Angel Kramer

Remember a few months back when Matt published his first ever convention vlog of Wizard World St. Louis? Well, not long after that, he, Nick, and Angel were able to obtain coverage for another local convention. During summer 2016, Midwestern pop culture convention company Mighty Con set up their first ever event in the St. Louis-area market at the St. Charles Convention Center (just across the Missouri River from St. Louis proper). Similar to the previous convention, we interviewed fans, vendors, artists, and even charity and benefit companies. Conversing about cosplay and pop culture at this smaller con by comparison, we were surprised to meet even more people who were fans of the music in which we at Damnation cover.

Unlike Matt’s previous con vlog however, in which he fought through exhaustion of working his previous overnight job, this time Nick and Angel were there to assist him as he conducted his coverage while being affected by a nearly twelve-week internal infection which he contracted that week (one which contributed to Matt’s extreme absence and lack of production in the past year). Suffering from this illness on top of his every day anxiety, Matt found himself rambling and stammering through his coverage more than usual, all while working with limited failing camera and audio equipment.

Certainly not his finest project, we were still grateful for the opportunity to represent and cover our market and home town, and bring the resulting footage of cross demographic culture and interest to you. Please enjoy our resulting finished project, and be on the lookout for future convention vlogs from Damnation!

Mighty Con returns to the St. Charles Convention Center June 17 – 18, 2017.
